Join the Commuter Challenge!

October is Commute Solutions Month!

This is a great time to try an alternate commute such as riding the bus, carpooling, vanpooling, walking, or biking.  You can save money, help keep our air cleaner, and also have a chance to win great prizes through the Commuter Challenge and the Weirdest Commute Contest.

The Commuter Challenge runs from October 8 through October 20.  All you need to do is log your biking, walking, transit, vanpool and/or carpool commute trips to be entered for a chance to win. By taking the Challenge, you will be eligible for one of the five great prizes (one prize for each mode).  Prizes include a gift certificate to a local bike store, iTunes, a Kindle and more!  Each alternate commute logged during the two weeks of the Challenge counts as a separate entry and will give you a greater chance of winning a prize.  To join the Challenge and see contest rules, go to the myCommuteSolutions website at, register, and keep a daily log of your alternate commutes.  When you log your trips you can also track fuel saved, calories burned and pollution reduced.   The contest is open to both new and existing users, not to mention it’s free and it’s easy!

The Weirdest Commute Contest, ending Commute Solutions Month, will be held on Friday, October 26 at the Auditorium Shores parking lot.  This fun-filled, community event will include guest judges, a live remote from KLBJ, members from the Universityof Texas Pom Squad, and information from our Commute Solutions partners.  The highlight of the event is the Weirdest Commute Contest and entries must be creative, functional and environmentally friendly!  Participants do not have to use their creations to transport them to the contest location, but they must complete one lap around the parking lot. Contestants are invited to sign up between 10:00 a.m.and 10:30 a.m., with the festivities beginning at 11:00 a.m. and will continue until 1:00 p.m.  Judging for the contest will take place at noon and we’ll have great prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place that will make your commute a little easier!  Check our Weirdest Commute Contest page for more details!
